THE MECCA TALES

Written and Directed by Rohina Malik

Live Oud Music by Scott Wilson

Five Muslim women meet for the first time at the pilgrimage in Mecca known as the Hajj.  Grace, the group’s leader, requires each of the pilgrims to reveal her unique and personal reason for making this journey.  The women must choose whether to reveal themselves and go forward, or to guard their stories and stay behind.  Poetic and transporting,  The Mecca Tales explores  the power of ritual and redemption.  Commissioned by the Goodman Theater, and developed at Chicago Dramatists, The Mecca Tales has been nominated for a Jeff Award for Best New Play 2016.

With Purva Bedi*, Dalia Davi*, Gillian Glasco*, Abraham Makany, Gulshan Mia, and Mary Round
